The change of the guard takes place every hour on the hour.

Cape Sounion is located about 70 kilometers southeast of Athens, on the southernmost tip of the Attica Peninsula. The temple, built to honor Poseidon, the god of the sea, stands as a beacon to sailors returning home.

The Temple of Poseidon is one of the most iconic archaeological sites outside of Athens, offering visitors breathtaking panoramic views of the sea and the surrounding coastline. It’s especially famous for its sunsets, where the ruins are bathed in warm golden light as the sun dips into the Aegean. On clear days, you can see several of the nearby islands dotting the horizon.
